31-03-2026 380

On March 30, 2026, a scientific-practical seminar titled "The Role of the Mahalla System in the Context of Large-Scale Reforms Being Carried Out in Uzbekistan" was held in the city of Tashkent with the participation of mahalla chairpersons.

At this event, particular attention was paid to the role and significance of the mahalla institution in ensuring the sustainable development of society, improving the well-being of the population, and enhancing public administration on the basis of people-centred principles. It was emphasized that the mahalla system serves as a crucial link in resolving socio-economic issues at the local level, conducting targeted work with the population, and ensuring the implementation of state policy.

In particular, the introduction of the "mahalla sevens" system was assessed as an effective mechanism for the prompt resolution of public issues at the local level, strengthening social stability, and expanding civic participation. It was noted that this system has broadened opportunities for identifying local problems and developing targeted solutions to address them.

The declaration by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan of 2026 as the "Year of Mahalla Development and the Elevation of Society" was assessed as a significant strategic decision aimed at bringing the mahalla institution to a new stage in the life of the state and society.
