Center Representative’s Article on Regional Cooperation in Central Asia Published in an International Outlet
Kazakhstan’s international news agency DKNews.kz has published, in Russian and English, an analytical article by Jahongir Isayev, Head of Department at the Sustainable Development Center, titled “Central Asia Is Shaping Its Own Model of Regional Cooperation.”
On November 6, 2026, the Dunyo news agency under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan also published a special feature on the article’s key ideas and conclusions.
The article examines the new stage of cooperation among the states of Central Asia, the distinctive features of regional integration, and Uzbekistan’s initiatives to strengthen mutual trust and practical partnership with neighboring countries.
According to the author, the cooperation model taking shape in Central Asia does not directly replicate the experience of the European Union. It rests on the principles of preserving state sovereignty, regular political dialogue, aligning mutual interests, and achieving practical results.
The analysis pays particular attention to the establishment of the Consultative Meetings of Heads of State on the basis of an initiative put forward by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in 2017, the seventh meeting held in Tashkent in November 2025, and Azerbaijan’s accession to this format as a full participant.
A key conclusion of the article is that the effectiveness of regional cooperation should be measured not only by the number of summits held and agreements concluded, but also by tangible results achieved in trade, transport, energy, water resources, climate adaptation, and security.
This piece contributes to expert discussions on Central Asia’s place in the system of international relations and the prospects for regional cooperation.
