02-11-2025 44

Tashkent, 3 November. The Centre for Sustainable Development organised a seminar for mahalla chairpersons of Tashkent city on the topic “Sustainable Development Goals and the Role of the Mahalla Sevenfold System in the ‘Uzbekistan — 2030’ Strategy”.

At the event, leading Centre expert Avazbek Khalbekov presented information on the key directions of the “Uzbekistan — 2030” strategy and its alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals. According to him, the strategy sets out the following priority objectives: economic growth, the advancement of education and healthcare, the creation of a healthy ecological environment, the building of a just state, and the safeguarding of national security.

The seminar emphasised that the “mahalla sevenfold” system constitutes a vital link in the realisation of these objectives. Through this system it becomes possible to resolve community problems on the ground, strengthen the “family–school–mahalla” partnership model, and organise effective public oversight.

It was further noted that the “mahalla sevenfold” institution serves as a significant practical tool for implementing BRM’s focus areas of “poverty reduction”, “quality education”, “gender equality”, and “sustainable communities”.

At the conclusion of the seminar, participants received answers to their questions of interest. Additional clarifications were also provided regarding the interrelationship between the national strategy and the Sustainable Development Goals.
