National Programme to Combat Heart Attack and Stroke to Be Introduced

    A decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Improving Measures for the Prevention of Acute Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Diseases" (PP–20, 20 January 2026) has been adopted.

    In accordance with the decree, from 1 May 2026, the National Programme to Combat Heart Attack and Stroke, developed on the basis of the international programmes "Stent for Life" and "Action Plan for Stroke", will be introduced in the regions on a phased basis.

    Within the framework of the national programme, the following measures are envisaged:

    ·                                Annual targeted medical screenings for the population aged 30 and above;

    ·                                Establishment of specialized round-the-clock response teams for myocardial infarction and stroke;

    ·                                Introduction of patient care clinical pathways based on international treatment standards;

    ·                                Equipping emergency medical services with modern telemetric devices.

    These measures are intended to safeguard public health and reduce mortality and complication rates associated with heart attack and stroke.
