A scientific article by Avazbek Khalbekov, Head of Department at the Center for Sustainable Development, titled "The Role and Priority Significance of the Economic Potential of Regions in Ensuring Sustainable National Development," has been published in the prestigious international scientific journal International Conference of Science & Technology.
This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the place and significance of the economic potential of regions in ensuring sustainable development in the context of contemporary global economic transformation. In particular, it examines the disparities in development levels between regions within the national economy, their impact on economic growth, and the scientific and practical aspects of addressing these imbalances.
Furthermore, the article elaborates on the modern economic substance of the concept of sustainable development, substantiating that it constitutes a complex process encompassing not only economic growth but also such factors as the standard of living of the population, social equality, and institutional efficiency.
Within the scope of the research, an in-depth analysis is conducted of the structural elements of a region's economic potential — natural resources, productive and infrastructural capacities, human capital, innovative potential, and institutional environment factors. It is demonstrated that their harmonious development plays a decisive role in ensuring the sustainable growth of the regional economy.
The article examines contemporary methods for assessing the economic potential of regions, including the resource-based approach, the rating method, and the application of integral indices. Drawing on the experience of European countries, the mechanisms for comprehensive regional assessment through the "economic potential index" are elucidated.
The findings of the research indicate that the effective utilization of the economic potential of regions constitutes a significant factor in ensuring sustainable and inclusive economic growth, improving the well-being of the population, and enhancing the competitiveness of the national economy. From this perspective, the article puts forward practical recommendations for reducing economic disparities between regions, the rational use of resources, and the introduction of scientifically grounded governance mechanisms.
