07-02-2026 62

    On 7 February 2026, an international scientific round table was held in the capital of our country on the theme 'Central and South Asia: Historical Ties, Modern Cooperation and Development Prospects', organised by Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, the SCO Centre for People's Diplomacy in Uzbekistan, in cooperation with the Sustainable Development Centre.

    The event was aimed at conducting a comprehensive scientific analysis of the centuries-old historical, cultural, political, and economic ties between the regions of Central and South Asia, as well as identifying new formats and mechanisms for inter-regional cooperation in the context of globalisation and discussing prospective initiatives.

    The primary objective of the round table was to conduct an in-depth study of the historical and cultural heritage, scientific, educational, trade, economic, and geopolitical relations between the states of Central and South Asia, to analyse existing challenges from a scientific standpoint, and to develop evidence-based proposals and recommendations for their resolution.

    Scientific presentations and discussions were conducted at the forum on the following priority areas:

    •                                    Historical, socio-political, and cultural ties between the regions of Central and South Asia;

    •                                    Historical and contemporary aspects of the Silk Road civilisation and inter-regional integration processes;

    •                                    Current issues of language, literature, and intercultural dialogue;

    •                                    Prospects for cooperation in the fields of education, science, and academic exchange;

    •                                    Issues of regional security, stability, and sustainable development.

    Within the framework of the international round table, Pakistani writer Muhammad Abbas Khan ceremonially presented his work in Urdu, entitled 'Uzbekistan: The Third Renaissance — A Concept of Development', to Gulchehra Rikhsieva, Rector of Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.

    This event is regarded as a significant scientific occurrence, demonstrating the strengthening of international scientific cooperation and the recognition of the emerging concept of the Third Renaissance in Uzbekistan by the global intellectual community.

    The round table was held in a hybrid format in Uzbek and English, with the participation of local and foreign scholars, researchers, faculty members, young researchers, and sectoral specialists.

    This forum contributes to providing a scientific foundation for the multifaceted ties between the regions of Central and South Asia, strengthening academic dialogue, and further advancing inter-regional scientific cooperation.
