On September 8, 2026, a joint session was held of the Committee on International Affairs, Defense and Security Issues of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Public Council under the Committee.
The session discussed the priority tasks of the seventh national program — one of the seven national programs set out by President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the ceremony dedicated to the 35th anniversary of our country's state independence — which is aimed at comprehensively enhancing Uzbekistan's standing as a land of peace and friendship and a country of tolerance.
J. Isayev, a representative of the Sustainable Development Center, took part in the event and put forward proposals and recommendations aimed at increasing the practical effectiveness of the national program.
In particular, proposals were made on assessing the program's results on the basis of clear indicators, regularly monitoring the climate of concord and tolerance in society, analyzing the state of social concord in the regions, broadly involving national cultural centers in joint social projects, strengthening dialogue and media literacy among young people, developing educational mechanisms to counter disinformation in the digital space, and making effective use of the opportunities offered by practical interfaith cooperation and people's diplomacy.
It was also emphasized that Uzbekistan's experience in the areas of peace, interethnic concord, and religious tolerance should be presented more broadly on the international stage in both academic-analytical and practical formats.
It was noted that these areas are aligned above all with the 16th Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) of the United Nations (UN) — “Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions” — as well as with Goals 10 and 17.
