On 26 February 2026, an open and interactive meeting on the theme "Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Uzbekistan and International Experience" was organised for students of the Oxbridge school, with the participation of specialists from the Sustainable Development Centre. The primary objective of the event was to familiarise young people with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the United Nations and to explain their substance and significance.
During the session, students reflected on the role of sustainable development in the lives of current and future generations, as well as on the interconnection of global challenges such as climate change, poverty, and inequality. It was emphasised that the construction of a peaceful and just society begins above all with mutual respect, a culture of dialogue, and tolerance among people.
In the course of the discussion, young people put forward proposals on practical ways to contribute to sustainable development. They discussed how it is possible to benefit society through volunteer activities, social initiatives, and projects aimed at environmental conservation. The session was conducted in an atmosphere of lively questions, answers, and vigorous debates.
Students put forward concrete ideas for making their school and urban environment more sustainable: expanding tree planting, making economical use of water and energy resources, sorting and disposing of waste separately, as well as showing respect and care for elderly people, among other initiatives.
At the conclusion of the event, it was underlined that the Sustainable Development Goals are not merely an international policy document, but also the personal responsibility of every individual in their daily life. The sooner young people comprehend these values and begin to apply them in practice, the greater the opportunity to achieve positive change in society.
The strengthening of cooperation between the Oxbridge school and the Sustainable Development Centre serves as an important step in cultivating among students the principles of a sustainable and responsible future.
