27-02-2026 74

Reforms undertaken in Uzbekistan to strengthen women's rights and enhance their economic participation are producing measurable results at the international level. According to the World Bank's Women, Business and the Law 2026 report, the country scored 82.1 points among 190 states, advancing 43 positions to rank among the top 50.

Particularly noteworthy are the maximum scores of 100 points in the categories of Mobility, Family, Pay, Parenthood, and Assets. The Labor indicator rose from 50 to 91.75 points, while the Pension indicator increased from 50 to 66.75 points. Uzbekistan surpassed the global average across all key indicators. Performance in the Europe and Central Asia regional average was likewise exceeded. Compared to countries at a similar level of economic development, progress in legal equality amounted to nearly 24 points.

These results are the outcome of consistent, sequenced reforms. In 2020, Uzbekistan was included among the 27 countries that implemented the most significant changes in the area of women's rights and gender equality. Scores subsequently improved in a steady progression: 70.6 points were recorded in 2021–2023, and in 2024 the country achieved 82.5 points, placing first in Central Asia.

From October 2023 to October 2025, Uzbekistan was recognized among 68 countries that actively carried out gender equality reforms. In the Entrepreneurship domain specifically, the country was acknowledged as one of only six leading nations to have integrated gender principles into its public procurement system.

These achievements reflect tangible efforts to establish equal legal conditions for women and to support their economic empowerment.
